Music & Dance!

Eastern Oregon Celtic Society

So easy, a monkey can do it?

Our 2009 Games introduced us to another kind of dance. Troupe Katra Badeya, brought Celtic Fusion Belly Dance to Baker City! Mearah, Owner and Director of the Desert Dreams Dance Studio located in Boise, ID brought her sisters in the dance, Kalista, Shivali and Perizadah to perform this ancient dance art form. They did not disappoint!

                              Pipers Gathering

Saturday December12th is the re-start date for the Pipers Gathering. Classes will  be held the 2nd Saturday of every month and are sponsored by the Eastern Oregon Celtic Society in partnership with the Northeast Oregon  Folklore Society.  Hosted by EOCS Music Director Pete Elder, this is a chance for beginning pipers to get together to help each other, and is open to anyone interested in this venerable old instrument. If you would like to learn the Bagpipes you can receive information, guidance and limited instruction at this venue and by using the College  of Piping, Glasgow self tutorials. This is the method for the Great  Highland Bagpipe but is also a method, which can apply to any type of Bagpipe.
Any experienced pipers who hear of this are most assuredly welcome to attend.
